Enterprise Solutions Architecture (ESA) teams are the gatekeepers of the Wells Fargo Technology Platform, responsible for thought leadership, technology guidance, standards decisions, and governance of technology throughout the enterprise. As part of the transformative changes occurring at WFB, ESA is transforming its role to include a more active and extensive part in ensuring that the recommendations that are made are carried through to completion and have the continuous support of ESA throughout the project life cycle to ensure processes and operational capabilities receive proper architecture leadership.

Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) currently supports technology application portfolio of around 6,000 applications with majority of applications written in Java and .NET. These 6000 applications are governed by enterprise capabilities such as strategy, risk, policy, compliance, architecture, SDLC and they have been managed across the lines of business respectively. They are enabled by Enterprise Technology Infrastructure that provides compute, storage, network and security services based on ITSM and ITIL respectively. EIT is going through a strategic technology transformation to simplify, streamline and enable technology of the future. This is an interdisciplinary effort that requires all stakeholders to partner seamlessly and drive the execution with efficient and effective use of process, practice and standards respectively

This position is a lead architect role that is responsible for defining and governing technology and architecture standards from business architecture, data architecture, application architecture, technical architecture to ITSM operations. This position will focus specifically on the architectural aspects of The Open Group’s IT4IT framework focusing on Strategy to Portfolio, Requirement to Deploy, Request to fulfill and detect to correct respectively. This individual will collaborate with IT partners to refactor current prevailing practices across the enterprise towards industry standards and practices including those advocated by ITIL/IT4IT etc. The architect will provide clear and prescriptive architectural direction enabling the above. This leader is expected to have hands-on core SDLC experience and knows how to leverage their expertise to improve the environment. This leader must influence from developer to senior leadership to establish, maintain and govern all architecture aspects relative to IT standards and data. Their responsibility includes collaboration with other key Wells Fargo organizations to deliver standardized services from inception to retirement. Through a careful refactoring of UX/UI aggregation, micro-services, data management practices, help achieve application rationalization, IT simplification etc. This leader will ensure that technology standards are always closely aligned to serve all of the enterprise needs. This accountability will ensure that we enhance our Risk & Regulatory practices and continuously assess technology standards and strategy to protect Wells Fargo’s technology environment while also improving our efficiency and effectiveness to deliver Wells Fargo products to market faster and with fewer errors. This leadership role must collaborate, interact, and lead both directly and indirectly at the CTO and Group Architect levels level to ensure all standards, policy, control points and governance are well defined and measured for its success. This particular SA6 addition will better enable the team’s effectiveness for the transformation of the enterprise from an IT4IT perspective and will assist in achieving our overall team goals.

The responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain an integrated IT4IT Architecture from planning, project management, build and release to site reliability engineering complementing ITSM practices.

  • Influence the IT Service owner to ensure alignment with the IT4IT data architecture.

  • Present risk and regulatory IT data Systems architecture roadmaps and deliverables to internal executive leadership teams as well as external regulators.

  • Contribute to the establishment of an Enterprise IT4IT Data Strategy (including metadata, data quality and data architecture strategy) ensuring it meets the needs of risk and regulatory compliance.

  • Develop solution architectures for the Service Management, Risk & Regulatory data applications owned by Enterprise Data & Analytics.

  • Assess enterprise, line of business, and staff group architectures, strategies, roadmaps and designs for potential alignment opportunities.

  • Synthesize, document and present findings.

  • Collaborate with divisions sponsoring initiatives to optimize investment decisions.

  • Follow appropriate enterprise processes and governance where applicable (e.g. CREST, Architecture Alignment Assessments, Technology Adoption Processes, Standards, Enterprise Project Methodology)

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of information technology systems design and planning experience; in systems, applications, or architecture

  • 2+ years of risk and regulatory compliance experience

  • 2+ years of data management experience

  • 5+ years of SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) experience
