American Equity Automation Engineer, Investments in West Des Moines, Iowa

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Responsible for planning and conducting a wide range of quality control tests and analyses to ensure all application products and services meet organizational standards and end-user requirements for Investments applications. Provides different architecture solutions and coding of Investments projects targeted for automation. Under moderate/limited supervision, codes, tests and debugs automation test scripts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administration Items

  • Provides weekly status report of all completed, on-going and future projects in order to keep management updated on progress.

  • Proficient in quality processes in Agile Team environment, working with JIRA boards and card breakdown

Testing Items

  • Analyzes and reviews requirements and technical work products.

  • Defines and manages test plans, strategies, and results.

  • Designs test scenarios and data; executes manual or automated scripts.

  • Validates test results and records and researches defects.

  • Coordinates and plans testing.

  • Meet with users to ensure effective testing thru Mob Test Design.

  • Prioritizes, defines and manages defect reporting and resolution.

  • Mentors team on effective testing procedures and utilization of testing assets.

  • Utilizes qTest and qTest eXplorer to create tests, execute them and log defects.

  • Advocates for quality processes.Automation Items

    • Establishes and maintains automation project timelines.
  • Codes, tests and debugs automation scripts.

  • Subject matter expert of Selenium/SpecFlow utilizing C# and/or Microfocus QTP/UFT.

  • Assists with documentation of procedures used for utilizing automation scripts.

  • Interfaces with users and programmers to develop automation procedures and technology solutions.

Support Items

  • Assists Quality Assurance, Development, and Users with questions regarding automation.

  • May support QA test automation and tooling infrastructure.

  • Interfaces with outside resources for problem solving.

  • Will assist with resolution and retesting of production issues within assigned area of responsibility.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None required for this position.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or at least 4 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Understanding of Fixed Income, Derivative, Equity Instruments and Analytic systems is required.

  • At least 3 years of testing Experience within Financial/Banking Industry (Capital Markets, Wealth and Investment Management, Banking, Mortgage, Finance Risk and Compliance, or Insurance).

  • Experience with testing methodologies, creating SQL queries and reporting and tracking defects.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:

None required for this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding and ability with financial / investments business operations, data and applications, such as Bloomberg, PAM for Investments.

  • Knowledge with mark-down languages (such as HTML, XML, JSON) for loading data.

  • Knowledge and ability to work with IBOR products, Aladdin (BlackRock) and Numerix.

  • Strong understanding of SQL, ability to inspect and validate data in tables, run SQL scripts, etc.

  • Strong customer service orientation.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a business audience.

  • Mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with employees, customers, and other outside third parties.
