Nestle Bagline Operator in Waverly, Iowa
The purpose of this job is to operate a variety of different bag packaging equipment, which include: Rovema and RPML Packaging machines. Other duties include making necessary adjustments to form, fill and checking weights of bags on HCM, Nesquik and instant products that conform to Nestlé USA specifications. Operator will perform job functions in such a manner that performance will meet or exceed World-Class Standards for quality and efficiencies.
DUTIES (List most difficult to perform first, etc.)
Operate and control in a safe and responsible manner in the function of monitoring and controlling bag filling machinery, automatic caser machinery and conveyor equipment. In the function of forming, sealing checking for leakers and checkweighing bags of finished product, monitoring and filling caser as to provide packaged product conforming to established Nestlé quality standards.
Carry out weight control program:
a. Perform various quality control checks on bags and cases and take corrective action when necessary.
b. Weighing samples and entering data via either weight control computer or logs.
c. Setting up and checking test weights.
d. Inspect checkweigher, splice detector and packaging quality every 2 hours.
e. Verify the components used at lines against recipe in SAP(master staging report) system.
f. Perform visual checks on bag and cases for quality and correct code.
g. Evaluate general quality of bag seals, zipper seals and cases in terms of appearance and accuracy and legibility of coding.
h. Maintain sampling record and accumulate samples for the lab.
i. Monitoring weight control computer for weight trends in ASI.
- Reduce waste by efficient line operation and recouping usable product.
a. Operator will rework all usable product on Line 3 (Rovema) line by cutting back and dumping into the Hurricane reclaim system.
b. Rework damaged cases on to the line or in the rework tote.
c. Monitor bulk waste going to Sugar Tree box
Maintain a continuous supply of cases, bag material, zipper material and hot glue for the glue machine.
Maintain a safe and clean work area and perform equipment cleaning on a daily and weekly basis or when required.
Clean heater bars as needed.
Maintain accurate records and logs on production and downtime.
Any other duties assigned by supervisor, such as continuous improvement teams.
**This is a 3rd shift position: 12 am-8 am
$500 sign on bonus after 90 days of employment
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
Ability to communicate written and orally in English.
Willing and able to stand on a frequent basis.
Willing and able to work overtime.
Willing and able to work various shifts.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
