Work Shift:

ALL SHIFT (United States of America)

This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the refrigeration systems while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Under general supervision the Powerhouse Maintenance Technician is responsible for operating and repairing all equipment associated with the Engine Room. Duties include but are not limited to performing preventative maintenance (PM’s) and repairs on refrigeration equipment like air compressors, HVAC, MAUS, cooling coils, boilers/steam and the potable water system. Duties also include temping carcasses to ensure temperature specifications are met. Technicians conduct rounds to monitor and document readings for operational purposes. Techs need to be able to record operational changes in a log and must be able to communicate the changes with managers as needed and staff during pass down reporting to the next shift. Must be able to read and understand manuals, scheduling sheets and complete reports as needed. Must be able to follow all safety rules including Tyson Core Safety Mandate policies for fall protection, lock out tag out and confined space entry. Must be able and willing to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) including a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and air purified respirators (APR). (SCBA/APR usage requires clean-shaven face.) Techs must be able to become a certified member of the plant’s HAZMAT team. Must be able to work varied hours and shifts including weekends, holidays and overtime as required. Must be willing and able to work in extreme hot and cold environments, with seasonal winter temperatures below zero and summer temperatures up to 110 degrees. Must be willing and able to lift 60 lbs. occasionally

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Related work history, education and or experience is required in at least one of the areas listed below.

  • Two years’ or more work experience with various home or commercial refrigerants, installing new units and use of pump down system

  • Two year certification from an HVAC trade school.

  • One year or more experience with industrial ammonia systems at an operator level-one or higher.

High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required.

Preference given to internal qualified candidates currently employed at this facility followed by candidates from other Tyson facilities and then Externals.
