Primary Responsibilities

As the Facilities Manager you will ensure efficient operation of a building totaling approximately 290,000 square feet of space consisting of office, labs, clean rooms, cafeteria and mechanical support spaces.

In this job you will:

  • Be the key contact for building your team responsible for maintenance of thefacility, support system, grounds and parking area ensuring the best possible state of repair is sustained 24/7/365 to allow our critical work to continue uninterrupted.Support Systems for this facility include water cooled chillers, open cell cooling towers, Split DX Air Handling Systems, Clean Dry Air Systems, DI Water Operations, Vacuum, Humidification systems, Hazardous Gas Detection System, Elevators, Fire Alarm and Electrical Distribution.

  • Select, supervise, counsel, train and evaluate exempt professional and non-exempt personnel in accordance with company policies. You will be responsible for determining appropriate staffing levels and hiring your own team as this is a new facility.

  • Manage operational expenses and capital budgets including ensuring cost take out goals and project objectives are met. You will develop Request for Capital RCE budget estimates for construction, renovation and upgrade projects. Other project related duties include reviewing construction plans and specifications and overseeing contractor performance. You will provide technical assistance in the fields of Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Environmental Engineering disciplines.

  • Manage local Sustainability Initiative plans, goals and objectives, to ensure strategy alignment with company focus.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations; and in the case of SHE regulations, ensure compliance with SHE Department interpretations. At a corporate level they also follow all Company/Corporate Management Directives and Practices. Corporate duties may include interpreting, executing, and recommending modifications to company-wide policies.

  • Receive limited direction, managing with significant discretion, using independent judgment to taking action and making decisions related to managing your assigned department. Results are reviewed against mutually agreed upon goals.

  • Be the department interface with the Site Executive, Site Leadership, Department Managers, Lab Managers, and other key building occupant contacts. Your role will include leadership as site Business Continuity Coordinator and Incident Commander for scenario s highlighted in the Emergency Response/Incident Management Plan.

  • Assist in developing Department budgets and manage department budgets.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Must be physically capable of performing essential functions of the position

  • Most work is in an office environment but you must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and to climb stairs and ladders

  • May work extended hours or weekends on occasion

You are expected to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties outlined above. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers and suppliers. Utilize computer skills to prepare appropriate reports and documents. Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Analyze, evaluate, develop and implement processes and systems within budget and adhere to time requirements and schedule.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Familiarity with AUTOCAD or other drafting software.

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial Engineering or Construction Management or similar degree.

BS 8 Years, MS 6 Years, PhD 4

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Licensed Professional Engineer or Architect

Preferred existing Secret or higher clearance
