As a HSE Intern, you will aid in the development of future professionals in the health, safety, and environment field. As the selected candidate, you will gain firsthand experience of the opportunities and challenges that come with leading the HSE function, including collaborating with the site team and influencing the behaviors of others. You will also take on several tasks relating to health, safety, environment, and training functions. Lastly, you will complete a project focused on improving one of our current HSE programs.

Estimated Duration: May 2019- August 2019

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Foster a HSE culture founded on adherence to all applicable HSE and other corporate policies, procedures and guidelines

  • Work with HSE&S Lead and the site team site team on tasks such as reviewing and updating HSE documentation (i.e. job safety analysis, energy control procedures, etc.)

  • Actively support an image that reflects the highest regard for health, safety, and environmental stewardship

  • Support the behavior-based safety program by working with individuals on observations and analyzing observation data

  • Assisting with HSE program audits

  • Assisting with HSE safety inspections

  • Administer HSE training Perform other duties as required to meet plant needs

    Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent

  • All applicants Student must be pursuing a Bachelors or advanced degree in an applicable discipline (Major in Industrial Technology, Occupational Safety or another closely related field of study)

  • Applicants must have a passion for Occupational Safety

  • Applicants must have some interest in the agricultural industry

  • Fluent in English

  • All applicants must be eligible to work in the US

    Additional Knowledge, Skills, Traits & Abilities:

  • Communication- The ability to communicate information well (both written and spoken) is highly desired in this position

  • Collaboration- The ability to work with individuals who come from diverse backgrounds

  • Innovative- To always look to implement new procedures or technologies to improve work efficiencies

  • Detail/Accuracy Oriented- All procedures and policies must be understood and followed
