PACKAGING JOB DESCRIPTION
General Purpose of the Position:
This position ensures that cheese is packaged in to the proper bulk packaging while monitoring the process of extraction of whey from the cheese. Ensure the proper documentation is done on the cheese and the proper packaging is clean and safe.
Job Responsibility and Frequency:
Must have the ability to assemble boxes of variable sizes in preparation to packing blocks of cheese.
Assemble dolly/tray/box in preparation for packaging conveyor.
Moving blocks of cheese on track in preparation for turner/vacuum chamber.
Unloading the boxes of springs, press boards, and legs. Push to wall into proper position.
Bringing the block from vacuum to inverter and prepare for delivery to cooler and for shipping.
Washing of dollies/trays.
Clean up of packaging area.
Attaining liners, and binding material from warehouse.
Driving forklift safely.
Document times, weights, and initials on proper forms.
Clean and scrub equipment as needed.
Work with proper cleaning chemicals as necessary.
Learn the salting position and help when needed.
Cross train on other pieces of equipment as time and priority allow.

Machine Troubleshooting/Problem Solving- Daily
General Education and Experience (Minimum requirement for the job):
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, preferred.
Specific Job Experience Needed/Required and a Minimum Amount of Experience Needed:
Experience is not required.
Experience driving a forklift is a plus.
Type of skills and/or licensing/certification required:
No licensing/certification required.
Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Lift/Carry- 64 pounds approximately 4 hours.
Push/Pull- 74 pounds approximately 8 hours.
Hand Grip- 45 pounds approximately 4 hours
Pinch Grip- 15 pounds approximately 4 hours.
Hand Coordination- approximately 4 hours.
Stand/Walk- approximately 12 hours.
Bend/Reach- approximately 6 hours.
Low Level Activity- approximately four hours.
Elevated Activity- Rarely.
Climb- approximately 4 hours stepping over tracks.
98% of the work is done indoors in a non-temperature regulated environment.
Must be able to tolerate hot work environments for 12 hours over 100 degrees.
Visual inspection and observation of cheese and processes- 12 hours.
5 AM to 5 PM Rotating schedule of 2 days on-2 off-3 on, 2 off
or 5 PM to 5 AM; Rotating schedule of 2 days on-2 off-3 on, 2 off
