Job Summary

The Applications Engineer Intern works with the customer to gather customer requirements, provide customer support by understanding requirements for the equipment, creating specifications, planning and carrying out field testing. This position is responsible for communicating with the customer and internal departments regarding customer specifications and technical issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1.Demonstrate the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focus, and stewardship, and model the associated behaviors.

  1. Assist with field testing during the development process.

  2. Work with customers to understand their technical needs and help develop, integrate, test, and debug application firmware for Vermeer machine control systems.

  3. Review technical documents to help create training for managers and employees.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma required.

  • Current student pursing a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Agricultural or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Previous internship is a plus.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge in the areas of electronic circuits and principles of operation. Ability to read electrical and electronic schematics.

  • Knowledge in control system theory and applications.

  • Ability to design, develop and launch mobile equipment.

  • Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers and maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness with customers and peers.

  • Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills.
