Job Summary:

This position will assist in all phases of building and grounds maintenance with the responsibility for maintaining all electrical equipment on all college properties.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Three years’ experience as an electrician or in a related field is preferred.

  • Licensed Electrician preferred.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be able to lift or move 50 lbs.

  • Must have the ability to work independently and in a team environment on a day-to-day basis.

  • The ability to prioritize and meet deadlines is essential.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Work Performed:

  • Work and communicate effectively with all members of the team.

  • Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.

  • Maintain all continuing education for electrician licensure(s) as required per the State of Iowa

  • Assist Director, Maintenance with responsibility for the overall electrical safety of all IHCC electrical installations.

  • Serve as contact person with local utility company.

  • Collaborate with Director, Facilities and Chief Financial Officer, and Vice President, Student Development & Operations to work with engineers, architects and sub-contractors to complete on-campus projects.

  • Proactively schedule facility improvement and preventive electrical maintenance at all campus sites and communicate issues or potential issues to the Director of Maintenance.

  • Assist Director, Maintenance with responsibility of planning new or modified installations consistent with all local and national codes.

  • Assist in building project budgets, cost estimates, schedules and timelines.

  • Procure goods and services to implement approved projects consistent with college policies and procedures.

  • Assist Director, Maintenance with responsibility of planning layout, install, and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.

  • Measure, cut and bend electrical conduit using such tools as hacksaw and conduit bender.

  • Install controls and distribution panels.

  • Test continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety using ohmmeter and voltmeter.

  • Install light fixtures, switches, and outlets.

  • Perform snow removal operations on an on-call basis.

  • Assist custodial staff personnel when help is needed.

  • Operate and assist in maintaining various types of equipment including mowers, tractors, weed-eaters, chainsaws, tillers, excavators, etc.

  • Assist all other physical facilities personnel with upkeep and preventative maintenance on all college properties.

  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.

  • Perform duties in accordance with OSHA regulations.

  • Successfully complete all required OSHA training.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Employment Length:

4 Term, Full Time, Benefits

Schedule:

9 hrs/day, Monday through Thursday

Hourly Rate:

$25.15-26.69
