Staples Folder Inspector in Orange City, Iowa
This job inspects embroidered products (e.g., shirts, sweatshirts, coats, sweatpants, shorts, etc.) and prepares them for shipping or storage. This job is cyclical in nature. Inspectors review a work order, inspect products, remove embroidery design backing, fold and package products, and then begin the process again with the next order. The goal of this job is to inspect products and ensure they meet high-quality standards and package products in an accurate, efficient, and safe manner with minimal errors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviews work order.
Determines which work orders need to be inspected and packaged based on priority.
Selects and assembles boxes or totes to use based on work order.
Verifies product sizes, colors, and quantities against work order.
Inspects products and removes embroidery design backing.
Inspects embroidered products to ensure high-quality embroidery design standards are met. Inquires with supervisor when design quality and placement are questionable.
Tears or cuts away embroidery design backings being careful not to cut or damage the product.
Removes solvy when applicable by running the steamer over it.
Cuts any hanging or looped threads off of the design.
Checks products for marks left from the embroidery process. Removes marks as needed using a steamer.
Buttons and zips up any buttons or zippers on the products that were undone during the embroidery process.
Stacks finished products in work area.
Sorts finished products according to colors and sizes.
Attaches barcodes, stickers, and hang tags to products when necessary.
Folds and packages products.
Hand folds products according to standards.
Makes sure product tags are upright and readable.
Packages folded products when necessary in a clear plastic bag with an adhesive closure.
Accurately counts and packs products into boxes for shipping or into totes for storing in the warehouse.
Verifies counts against the work order. Researches and resolves discrepancies.
Ensures the correct products are in the correct packing materials.
Documents work order information on the outside of the packing material and attaches travelers (i.e., shipping and tracking information) when necessary.
Lifts full boxes and totes onto pallet.
Notifies production assistant to come move pallets once orders are completed.
Notifies supervisor if order is short, does not match work order, or other problems encountered.
Keeps records and maintains work area.
Completes production tracking paperwork and verifies that it is accurate.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Required:
High School Diploma or GED
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of standard design placements.
Knowledge of design quality standards.
Knowledge of proper design backing removal techniques.
Skills in using a steamer to remove design backings.
Ability to read and comprehend a work order.
Ability to process work orders accurately, efficiently, and safely with minimal errors.
Ability to maintain accurate counts utilizing basic math skills.
Ability to use scissors and other small hand tools requiring hand/finger dexterity.
Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, and grip throughout work shift.
Ability to use both arms to inspect products, remove design backings, and fold and package products.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds 3-4 feet high in order to move and stack boxes and totes full of products.
Must be detail oriented to ensure high-quality embroidery design standards are met and to ensure work orders are accurately filled and packaged.
Work takes place in a well-lighted production environment with loud moving equipment and concrete floors. Work is labor intensive and involves continually repeating processes to mass produce products. Work requires standing for long periods of time.
