PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

  • Conduct Regulatory and Special Track inspections as mandated FRA and CP Company Policy;

  • Support activities such as Rail Grinder, Rail Flaw Detector, Track Evaluation Car and work assignment activities not listed;

  • Supervise or perform track restoration and/or renewal/repair work as assigned by Company Official;

  • Perform any other work assigned for which qualified.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1 year supervisory experience in railroad track maintenance;

  • 1 year of experience in railroad track inspection;

  • A combination of supervisory experience in track maintenance and training from a course in track maintenance or from a college-level education program related to track maintenance;

  • Knows and understand the requirements of 49CFR Part 213 that apply to the restoration and renewal of track for which they are responsible;

  • Knows and understand the requirements of 49CFR Part 213 that apply to the inspection of the track for which they are responsible;

  • Know and understands requirements of continuous welded rail (CWR) procedures;

  • Can implement field measurements and/or electronic records review to detect deviations from standards applicable to the above track maintenance standards and regulatory requirements;

  • Can prescribe appropriate remedial action to correct or safely protect train operations for deviations detected from applicable standards;

  • Qualified Under 49CFR Part 213.7 (a) and (b);

  • Maintain a Valid Driver’s License;

  • Ability to obtain medical card per FHWA if assigned truck requires such a card;

  • Able to successfully pass required examinations on General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR), On Track Safety Procedures (OTS), 49CFR Part 213, 49CFR Part 214, CWR maintenance, CP Red Book of Track and Structures and Track Inspector Training;

  • Must be able to perform physically strenuous work outdoors in all types of weather;

  • Work irregular hours and shifts as required by the position;

  • Work primarily without direct supervision physically present.
