Post Holdings Plant Cost Accountant in Lenox, Iowa


The Cost Accountant is responsible for the preparation and analysis of accounting reports related to manufacturing processing at the Lenox facility, including liquid reconciliation, shrink, production efficiencies and downtime.


  1. Responsible for weekly operational reporting related to manufacturing processing at the Lenox facility.

  2. Accumulate and review daily production documents and enter production statistics into files for additional reporting.

  3. Responsible for monitoring inventories (chemicals, raw materials, work in process, rework, and finished goods) to ensure their accuracy. Activities include: physical count updates in SAP, periodic cycle counts, and research of material count variances, reconciliations and applicable shrink reporting.

  4. Responsible for material setup, of new or existing items. Monitor updates to existing products and materials as necessary.

  5. Responsible for maintaining and preparing standard cost estimates.

  6. Responsible for assisting in the month-end accounting including the completion of journal entries as assigned.

  7. Assist with the completion of annual budgets.

  8. Assist in the development of new reports as requested to support plant operations.

  9. Complete special projects or other duties as required.

  10. Adhere to practices that ensure SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance. To include, but not limited to, obtaining management approval of material order variances and coordinating raw material cycle counting utilizing A,B,C methodology.


Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or Associates degree in accounting with equivalent experience.


  • Two years accounting experience a plus

  • MS Office expertise required. SAP preference preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills to effectively interact with others.

  • Highly motivated individual able to work in fast-paced environment.
