Work in Iowa Manufacturing Jobs

We have partnered with a Design-Build Architecture firm in the Des Moines metro who is looking to add a Superintendent to their team. Projects will include commercial/retail, education, healthcare, civic, and some industrial/manufacturing.

Description:

• Wears tool belt for small jobs and skilled needs that a entry level carpenter could not do.

• Follows job site safety procedures

• Plan weekly tasks for carpenter team

• Be primary point of contact on jobsite for clients and Project Manager

• Work with and speak to subcontractors, vendors and authorities with Jurisdiction

• Complete daily field reports and time cards

• Superintendents plan for 1 month at a time, for 10-50 people

Work independently doing:

• Light demolition

• Concrete forming, pouring and finishing

• Rough Carpentry: door frames and hardware, millwork, countertops, drywall, painting, ACT and flooring

• Maintain a clean job site

• Read commercial blueprints

"Wearing tool belt" examples include:

• 1000 sq foot pour - once per 6 months. Side walk may need 2 squares poured.

• Demolitions are 1-2 week duration taking out metal studs, cabinets, ceiling tile

• Carpentry - do drywall and framing less than 5 days long

• Doing the same thing has the people they are overseeing

• Plans for own duties 1 week ahead plus work for 3-4 other people

Work Environment:

• Projects include: higher education, retail renovations, religious facilities, office spaces, healthcare

• 10-15 employees in office

• Oversee 2-3 crew members and 3-4 subcontractors

• Scope of projects are usually 8 weeks, $250,000. Some projects up to $5 million.

• No traveling - projects within 1.5 hours of Des Moines

• Monday-Friday, 6:00/7:00am - 4:00/5:00pm

Qualifications:

• 5+ years commercial construction superintendent experience

• 1+ year managing 2 people and/or 3+ subcontractors

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, experience with Sage preferred

• Comfortable with the working aspect of the role
