Purfoods Set-up Sanitation Associate in Grinnell, Iowa

The Set-Up Sanitation Associate will clean facility and equipment to meet internal Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) and ensure FDA & USDA standards. This position will also tear down, sanitize, and set up line equipment. The primary focus is doing a deep clean on machines to ensure they pass pre-op inspection each morning.

  • Responsible for deep clean of wide variety of machinery so they will pass morning inspection. Must properly break down and clean all production machinery and equipment

  • Review and follow internal Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), as well as, FDA & USDA standards

  • Tear down, sanitize, and set up the following equipment as well as manage the preventative maintenance of the equipment and parts: V-mags, Unifillers, Diaphragm Pumps, Kettles, other equipment as needed.

  • Clean and sanitize all belts, surfaces, machines, & lines

  • Properly use and maintain cleaning chemicals

  • Follow & encourage other to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

  • Work with Sanitation Supervisor and Manager to ensure that the department has parts on hand for backup

  • Be available, via hand-held radio, to answer calls pertaining to equipment and setup issues

  • Repair hoses to compressed sanitation system

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

  • Observation and initiative skills

  • Good communication skills

  • Attention to detail as sanitation programs are key to preventing potential bacteria problems

  • Willingness to cross-train and help in other areas as needed

  • Previous food sanitation experience

  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions

  • Must be able to use hand tools

  • Physical stamina to stand, kneel, bend, and walk for long periods of time

  • Ability to work at heights of 50 feet or more on a ladder or scissor lift

  • Ability to push, pull, and lift 100 pounds occasionally
