Stellar Industries Inc Purchasing Assistant in Garner, Iowa
The Purchasing Assistant position’s responsibilities will include monitoring stock levels and identifying purchasing needs, researching potential suppliers, tracking orders, and ensuring timely delivery. This role will also update internal databases with order details (dates, supplier information, quantities, pricing, etc.). This role will prepare cost analyses as needed and help to resolve invoice issues as needed. This role will follow up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders. This role will work with Shipping & Receiving staff to ensure that all products arrive in good condition.
Maintain strong working relationships with our suppliers.
Compare product deliveries with issued purchase orders and contact suppliers when there are discrepancies.
Review purchasing agreements with suppliers and maintain open lines of communication with those suppliers.
Develop an active process for measuring supply inventory and determining purchasing needs based on monthly, quarterly, and annual numbers.
The Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for learning company purchasing policies and procedures, and for maintaining supply inventory levels required for effective company operations.
Complete special projects, assignments and other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
3+ years previous experience in a Purchasing Department
Good understanding of supply chain procedures
Hands-on experience with purchasing software
Knowledge of MS Excel and Word
Solid organizational skills
High School diploma/GED required
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
