Job Title:i Automotive Lube TechnicianLocation:i Garner, IADepartment:i ShopReports to:i Service Shop ManagerJob Summary:HCCO is searching for a dependable, hardworking, detailed individual to join our service team. Our Automotive Lube Technician will provide quick lube and additional services in a professional and courteous manner to our valued customers.Essential Duties:Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.Maintains records on regular customers, following up periodically with telephone, mail or personal reminders.Drains oil from crankcase and refills with required amount of oil.Replaces oil and air filters.Inspects vehicle fluid levels, replaces or replenishes as necessary.Checks tire pressure and adds air if needed.Lubricates moving parts with specified lubricants.Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.Documents all work performed on the repair order.Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs as assigned by service manager.Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.Keeps shop area neat and clean.Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.Reports any safety issues immediately to management.Other tasks as assigned.Qualifications18 years of age or older required.Basic mechanical understanding of an automobile.Experience as an express/quick lube technician preferred.Operate a wide variety of cars, light trucks, and vans, with ability to drive both manual and automatic transmissions.Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.A team player who is focused on providing exemplary customer service.Acceptable driving record and a valid driver's license in your state of residence.Education and/or ExperienceBasic knowledge of automotive parts and systems. Demonstrable mechanical skills and knowledge. Technical training or commensurate technical experience.Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.Ability to Read and Interpret Documents such as Safety Rules, Operating and Maintenance Instructions and Procedure Manuals. Ability to Write Routine Reports and Correspondence. Ability to Speak Effectively Before Groups of Customers or Employees of Organization.Mathematical SkillsAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
