UnityPoint Health Supervisor Facilities in Dubuque, Iowa

Work hours will be 6:30 am - 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, for 80 hours per pay period. You will be required to flex to other shifts as needed.

The Facilities Supervisor shall direct coordinate and supervise maintenance resources to attain optimum productivity, efficiency and service to customers. Supports the delivery of services to UPH Dubuque – Finley Hospital customers by ensuring necessary building and equipment maintenance is performed. Proper execution of these responsibilities enables Finley to provide high quality, efficient and cost-effective services.

Management

  • Maintains records on all actions performed on items under the responsibility of the Facilities Department.

  • Manages daily workflow through the work order management software by monitoring work requests, assigning work orders and reviewing PM tasks for completion.

  • Participates in compliance survey readiness through in-house inspections, record keeping and working with vendors to arrange for timely testing, inspections, repairs and record keeping.

  • Participates in regular review/revisions of compliance and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Displays considerable initiative and judgment involved in determining extent of repairs as may be required on all equipment and buildings selecting appropriate materials, utilizing the most effective methods, techniques and procedures when required to complete job assignments.

  • Cooperates with Facilities Manager and other employees to maintain equipment, parts and supplies and makes recommendations to Facilities Manager regarding desired changes in operation and maintenance procedures.

  • Keeps informed through periodicals, books, training seminars, on-the-job training and other sources and participates in approved training programs to further knowledge.

  • Coordinates work with contractors and vendors.

  • Supervises daily operations of the maintenance area that includes (Workers, Technicians, Senior Technicians, Painters, Groundskeepers, Security Staff.).

  • Interviews, orients, trains, schedules, evaluates, and disciplines staff with appropriate input.

  • Schedules, facilitates, and documents in-service educational programs for department staff.

  • Performs on-call duties during unscheduled working hours as assigned and can respond to emergency calls when necessary.

  • Balances team and individual responsibilities, objective and open to other’s views, gives and welcomes feedback, contributes to positive team goals, puts success of team above own interest.

  • Performs functions other than described below due to extenuating circumstances.

Departmental Support

  • Must be self-directed and assume responsibility for timely completion of job responsibilities.

  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.

Other Functions – performed on an as needed basis

  • This position may be assigned a specific mission to address in an emergency situation to assist in disaster response and recovery as part of the UPH Emergency Incident Command System. Situations of a critical nature may require an individual to perform multiple tasks until additional support can be obtained.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

High school graduate or equivalent.

Completion of a trade school course or trade apprenticeship program is desired but not mandatory.

Trade school or Trade apprenticeship.

Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in industrial or commercial operations in the maintenance field.

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience of supervisory experience.

Must be familiar with building maintenance techniques as applied to systems and equipment.

Hospital experience desirable but not mandatory.

License(s)/Certification(s):

Must have a valid driver’s license

Trade related licensure/certification and/or documented leadership training.

Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) certification.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Building maintenance operations

Intermediate level skill with Microsoft Programs.

Experience with work order management software.

Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.

Multicultural sensitivity.

Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.

Building automation system experience.

Other:

Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
