MidAmerican Energy Company Senior Supply Chain Analyst in Des Moines, Iowa

The supply chain analyst gathers data and conducts analysis of various functions and recommends actions to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Identifies underperforming areas in the supply chain and may suggest improvements or resolutions to problems. The supply chain analyst will be a systems expert, support and train others on various processes and computer systems.

Will work closely with multiple departments including, but not limited to: procurement, storerooms, scheduling, engineering, operations and external logistics provider. Ability to work collaboratively with these groups as well as gain understanding of the upstream and downstream processes will be important. A primary focus will be on determining and maintaining proper inventory levels.

Will work as a liaison between procurement and stores to ensure storeroom needs are addressed in the negotiation of supplier contracts or service arrangements. Should be familiar with a variety of utility concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)

Monitors demand and supply for operations with goal of optimizing and maintaining appropriate inventory levels. Sets proper reorder quantities (min/max) with business unit approval. Includes creation and revision of material requests. (30%)

Conducts analysis of various functions and recommend actions to improve efficiency and reduce costs. (20%)

Be the process expert and lead training to ensure compliance and performance relative to stated goals. (20%)

Coordination of demand with external logistics provider. (15%)

Review storeroom storm response procedures to assure timely availability of materials in restoration. Coordinate emergency deliveries and material requests. (5%)

Track material returns of major commodities. (5%)

Run ad hoc queries on material and costs as requested (5%)

Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Bachelor's degree in business related studies or equivalent related work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

Six or more years of related work experience; three or more years must be with a utility company.

Effective analytical and problem-solving skills to recognize patterns in data, information or events to draw logical conclusions and to make recommendations for action.

Knowledge of computer systems with skills to use software packages for creating spreadsheets, databases and for writing reports.

Effective oral and written communication skills to listen and transmit information accurately and understandably.

Preference will be given to candidates with operations management, economics, computer science or statistics background or experience in purchasing, materials, management or material management information systems.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
