The CLT Site Reliability Engineering organization in partnership with Chief Technology Office is launching Site Reliability Engineering for the firm by establishing the SRE practice, principles, and a “culture of curiosity” to improve availability and customer satisfaction for products and services we provide while enabling transformation of product teams to DevSecOps. CLT is defining the vision, strategy, and blueprint to improve availability for CLT as well as for Wells Fargo Technology.
Consumer Lending Technology is hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer that will lead our technology transformation to improve availability, quality, and customer satisfaction for products and services aligning to the 750+ applications in Consumer Lending Technology portfolio. We are looking for a senior SRE who enjoys and thrives on solving complex problems, challenges assumptions, automates away toil, and has experience impacting change at scale to drive business results and outcomes. You will join an elite team of SREs driving technology transformation in Consumer Lending Technology to improve availability through innovation, building enterprise capabilities and tools, accelerating delivery of quality products through CI/CD, and ensuring products are resilient through destructive testing.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Lead and participate in daily operations scrum with product DevSecOps teams to improve availability by reducing issues including systemic problems and drive continuous improvement through automation to free up operators time.
Onboard critical products that require high availability of 99.995% to the SRE practice establishing SLOs/SLIs, enabling enterprise observability (metrics, logs, and traces), CI/CD, continuous testing (functional, integration, regression, performance), IT Service Management Integration, conduct destructive/resiliency testing through controlled chaos experiments, and conduct threat assessments to reduce risk.
Evangelize and mature SRE squads to accelerate the transition of traditional operations organization to DevSecOps working with product teams to assess maturity, facilitate training, demo new capabilities, and contribute to documentation and playbooks to improve availability through newly formed SRE practice
Develop new capabilities and tools to improve availability in partnership with Chief Technology Office, pilot new products that address technology gaps or business problems, introduce continuous improvement through automation.
Innovate and mature SRE and DevSecOps practice from reactive to proactive to predictive leveraging AI/ML to refine alerting, reduce noise, improve MTR, autonomically heal, and detect issues before they manifest in production through AIOPs/NoOps/BI and Analytics to improve availability and overall customer satisfaction.
Share support responsibilities for critical applications, identify systemic issues, conduct blameless post mortems, root cause analysis, and introduce continuous improvements to eliminate issues through Agile methodology.
Assist in growing the newly formed Site Reliability Engineering team in Consumer Lending Technology by evangelizing SRE, training new team members, participating in recruiting/hiring processes.
7+ years of software engineering experience
3+ years of experience with logging, monitoring, and event detection on cloud or distributed platforms
3+ years of DevOps experience
2+ years of experience with observability tools such as Elasticsearch, Kibana, or Kafka
An industry-standard technology certification
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
1+ year of Incident Management System experience
