As a CO+I Principal Critical Environment Operations Manager, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundation technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, XBOX, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.
The Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) business is critical to delivering on this mission and vision, building and operating Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure, which is growing rapidly in response to unprecedented demand for Microsoft services. As the Principal Critical Environment Operations Manager you will drive the delivery of world-class critical environment support services across locations in your site/s. You will interact and maintain relationships with various authorities and partners across all sectors of the datacenter industry. You will use keen business acumen and financial management skills to manage operating costs effectively, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and ecological responsibility. Lead teams of other Critical Environment Operations Managers, Mechanical, Electrical and Control System professionals supporting Microsoft's online services across sites at our campus and metro area.
Leadership, management, coaching, and development of Microsoft full time employees across datacenters in your campus
Manage teams that:
Oversee development of standard operating procedures/building operating protocols and drive their implementation.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of mechanical and electrical equipment in our Datacenters, to include being an escalation point for all facilities-related issues and responding to out-of-hours emergency calls and leading calls for emergency events.
Accountable for the critical environment support for all service lines ensuring the on-time and defect-free delivery of customer capacity within our SLA commitments
Financial management of critical environment site/s including the development of detailed budgets, forecasts, and management of operational and capital spend
Work with our partner groups and vendors to drive remediation of issues (inclduing energy and operational efficiency projects) from concept to completion.
Ensure compliance with applicable building and safety codes and local, state, and federal rules, codes, and regulations.
Management and oversight of all vendor/partner contracts and relationships including leased-facility landlords and CE service providers, and partner support teams
Establish and enhance strong working relationships and engagement with our Engineering Groups (EGs), and business partners and work with regional and global peers to share and build best practices across the entire datacenter portfolio

Responsible for the planning and delivery of all supporting physical infrastructure, logistics, and the resources required to meet anticipated growth
Actively participate in incident management procedures relating to major incidents that impact Microsoft cloud services in your campus. This will include leading incident management calls with customers and senior leadership, the timely resolution of incidents, post-incident reviews, and the implementation of improvement plans
7+ years of leadership and management experience in a production, mission-critical, 24x7 operations environment
4+ years of experience managing large vendor multi-year contracts and operating entities
4+ years of experience leading, directly managing, and influencing an organization of full-time employees, across multiple disciplines and platforms
BS/BA degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Telecommunications, or Technical college certification in mechanical/electrical engineering or services, or equivalent experience
Demonstrated ability to collaborate, present, and negotiate effectively across groups of various levels and disciplines, senior company leaders, engineers, suppliers, partners, and external customers
Knowledge of critical environment concepts and infrastructure (e.g. Electrical Distribution, Mechanical Cooling Systems, etc.)
A solid understanding of financial management, budgeting, and forecasting
Project or program management experience and certification(s) (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, PMI, etc.)
10 years of relevant experience managing data center operations, facility engineering operations, critical environment facilities, data center build outs and scaling, general manufacturing, or similar critical environment responsible for delivering results with strict deadlines and cost constraints.
Experience working on large scale Critical Environment projects
