Midwest Medical Transport Mechanic in Des Moines, Iowa

Summary/Objective

Under limited supervision, the mechanic position performs work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Diagnoses, rebuilds and repairs vehicles and equipment.

  • Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.

  • Prepares and maintains records and reports.

  • May act as lead person in supervisor’s absence

Competencies

  • Proficiency in both light diesel and gas truck engines.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Software

  • Knowledge of Fleet diagnostics

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations.

  • The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions.

  • Noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Full time employment, Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30pm. Some overtime as needed.

Travel

10-20% travel throughout the Midwest

Required Education and Experience

5 years’ diesel mechanic experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of Network Fleet

  • ASE Certification

Additional Eligibility Requirements

  • Current & valid state driver’s license

  • Must pass company provided PCP physical capacity profile exam (post offer, pre- employment) & Drug Screen

  • Meet company policy MVR criteria

  • Must successfully complete company sponsored EVOC
