IDI (Individual Disability Insurance) IT has an opening for a Software Engineer that has a passion for working in a highly collaborative Agile environment. This positon would promote engineering practices through building and operating platforms that help our business deliver working and reliable software. Our teams use a mix cloud technologies and DevOps techniques to maximize productivity and deliver highly valued solutions. Position would be to develop and mentor delivery teams while keeping systems available and performant. We are looking for a someone with the following values/skills:
Ability to working on both proprietary and vendor software solutions that run on-premise and, in the cloud
Drive innovation and experimentation with a Customer First mindset
Passion for coding and building complex applications with simplicity
Ability to scale solutions
Applicaibility of DevOps practices – proactive response to customers through monitoring, automation and maintainability of applications, services and infrastructure
Provide technical leadership to Agile (scrum) teams
Utilizes data to drive decision making
Has a passion for designing and building complex applications and infrastructure with simplicity
Understand and advocate for architecture
Participate in all aspects of the team's work, including architecture, design, development, testing, and analysis of product
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math related field or equivalent work experience (6 years of experience equates to an Associate’s degree when defining “equivalent work experience”)
4+ years of Object Oriented development experience (Java/web services/APIs highly preferred)
Infrastructure/Networking/System experience (Cloud experience is highly preferred)
Self-motivating individual with a desire for continuous learning
Ability to learn new technologies quickly and understand a wide variety of technical challenges to be solved
Ability to collaborate across teams, vendor and shared services
Ability to manage and articulate financial decisions around design and implementation
Preferred technical skills:
Experience developing data-driven systems using relational and NoSQL database technologies such as Oracle, SQLite, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra
Demonstrated ability to understand and improve the software delivery process.
Leveraging the cloud for business decisions through data analytics
Exposure to building and maintaining cloud applications and infrastructure
Shared and Cloud platforms
Security awareness, AD experience, etc.
Database as part of the infrastructure
CI/CD pipeline experience (i.e. GIT, Jenkins, Maven)
Cost management skills
Financial Industry experience
