Position Title: EHS SpecialistWage: DOEShift: TBDThe Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting the effective EHS management system that will ensure ongoing compliance towards standards and regulatory compliance, while improving site safety culture. Donit miss this direct hire opportunity in the Greater Des Moines area.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Coordinate and implement EHS programs designed to provide and maintain a sustainable work environment- Establish best practices and develop and implement training programs to maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures- Work with EHS Manager to oversee the development and advancement of the EHS management system, self-audit compliance program and internal inspections- Lead cross-functional efforts to continuously improve plant improvement processes- Attend team meetings in support of the siteis compliance efforts- Provide interpretation of existing and upcoming EHS issues/legislation affecting the plant- Provide expert guidance to EHS and site leaders on environmental matters and compliance system design and implementation- Propose innovative strategies and programs for existing, emerging and new safety/environmental concerns- Investigate incidents and compliance issues to determine and eliminate root causes- Develop cost effective programs/procedures to minimize plantis impact on the environment due to discharges, emissions, and releases- Prepare and/or review routine reports for submission to agencies, trade associations, and company- Support site emergency response processesRequirements:- Bacheloris degree or equivalent related experience and/or training in EHS with experience in regulatory structure in a manufacturing- Proven track record of results; provide functional coaching in a manufacturing environment- Effective communicator with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization- Must have the ability to prioritize in a challenging environment of competing needs and tactically implement and bring projects to closure in a timely manner- Creativity, speed, dependability, and organizational skills that will enable management of multiple priorities
