The Global Center for Brand and Insights portfolio operates in a dynamic environment supporting a team of data scientists developing advanced analytical solutions incorporating sentiment analysis, predictive modeling, data mining, business intelligence, and customer understanding including segmentation, retention, and risk management.
In this role you will:
Assist with advancing a data-driven decision making culture through the adoption and usage of new tools to provide access to all types of data in a variety of platforms and formats.
Experiment with innovative solutions and iterate through cutting-edge implementations to solve business problems and provide new insights
Provide development and operational support for distributed technologies to ingest and process large data sources using Scala, Hadoop, NoSQL, and Java
Be part an agile scrum team, working collaboratively to find great solutions
Be encouraged and supported in pursuing continuous improvement in yourself, your team, and seeking opportunities for career growth
We are willing to consider remote candidates for this position.
Strongest candidates would have a computer-related degree and 2+ years of professional Data Management experience in a Big Data environment and exposure to many of the preferred skills listed below
Others we would consider:
1+ years of professional Data Management experience (in this case, an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math related field would suffice)
Completion of an intensive Code Academy or Code School program if you also have the following:
An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
1 year of technical experience in an IT data/developer/engineering role
Willing to be on-call
Preferred experience or aptitude to learn:
Big Data technologies:
Programming languages such as Scala, Java, Python
Data Stores such as Hadoop
Processing engines such as Spark, MapReduce
Query tools such as Impala, Hive
Data Virtualization such as Denodo
Pipeline frameworks such as Kafka, Flume, Sqoop
Content Search such as Solr, Elasticsearch
Experience with R or SAS is a plus
Aptitude for Quality Assurance Testing including test-driven development and design patterns
Ability to translate business and marketing desires into technical solutions
Strong problem solving and analytical thinking mindset
Ability to explain and translate highly technical concepts to individuals without a technical background
Collaboration and relationship building skills
Self-driven, motivated independent learner, showing initiative
