Microsoft’s Cloud Operations and Innovation Org (CO+I Cloud is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Critical Environment Operations Manager , you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies.
The Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) business is critical to delivering on this mission and vision, building and operating Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure, which is growing rapidly in response to unprecedented demand for Microsoft services. CO+I operates one of the largest cloud networks on the planet – comprised of more than 160 Datacenters, 130+ edge sites, 2+ million miles of fiber, and millions of servers and network and storage devices.

As a successful Critical Environments Operations Manager (CEOM), your performance objectives will be to:
Empower a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspects of our Datacenter operations.
Lead a team of data center operations professionals supporting Microsoft's online services.
Oversee development of standard operating procedures/building operating protocols and drive their implementation.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of mechanical and electrical equipment in our Datacenters, to include being an escalation point for all facilities-related issues and responding to out-of-hours emergency calls and leading calls for emergency events.
Manage the operations budget and expenditure and negotiate and prepare contracts, purchase orders, and change orders.
Work with our partner groups and vendors to drive remediation of issues (including energy and operational efficiency projects) from concept to completion.
Understand and ensure compliance with applicable building and safety codes and local, state, and federal rules, codes, and regulations.
Coordinate with third party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs.
Establish and enhance strong working relationships and engagement with our Engineering Groups (EGs), and business partners and work with regional and global peers to share and build best practices across the entire datacenter portfolio
5+ years of relevant work experience in a Datacenter or other critical environment facility, working with the operation of building cooling, electrical, mechanical and life safety systems, Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), Branch Circuit Monitoring (BCM), and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
3+ years of experience leading and motivating a technical workforce.
Bachelor's degree in applicable management field or relevant work experience
Bachelor’s Degree or Technical College certification in mechanical or electrical engineering and/or services
5 years of experience operating as a manager or manager of managers in data centers or a critical environment facility.
10 years of relevant experience managing data center operations, facility engineering operations, critical environment facilities, data center buildouts and scaling, general manufacturing, or similar critical environment responsible for delivering results with strict deadlines and cost constraints.
Experience working on large scale Critical Environment projects
Experience with the operation of IT infrastructure (Servers, SANs, Networking, etc.)

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
