Classroom Support Technician - 998260


The Information Technology Services (ITS) department is seeking applicants for a Classroom Support Technician. This position will function as a technical resource for the university’s build and support team. Candidates will have broad and varied duties, which will change on a day-to-day basis. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the maintenance of new and existing classrooms, retrofitting of existing classrooms, and the build out of new classrooms. The successful candidate will have A/V support experience, technical support knowledge, an understanding of unique support needs in higher education, and an ability to work with faculty and staff. The candidate must be able to build relationships across a variety of technical skill sets, maintain multiple lines of communication, and possess good written and verbal communication skills. Provides onsite support and repair for multi-use spaces. Ability to collaboratively design, program, troubleshoot and repair technology for a controllable classroom environment. This includes consulting with colleagues in ITS and customers to ascertain room needs, building wire diagrams, and planning upgrades within multi-use spaces.



Classroom Documentation and Planning: ability to see a classroom project through from the plan and design stages, to the build, test, and finalize stages. This includes the design and programming, but also overseeing consultants, working with internal business partners, and helping to complete finalized documentation for support.



Tier II Audio-Visual Support: provides a second tier of technology support for classrooms, including some hands-on training, and technically supporting post-AV installation needs.



Performs other duties as assigned.



--Must exhibit multicultural competence, possessing the skills and experience to work with diverse individuals.

--Two-year college degree in a technical field or corresponding work experience.

--Familiar with A/V support and maintenance.

--Ability to communicate well, follow up in a timely fashion, and ensure that they can provide quality customer service.


--Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with a major in computer science, business, or leadership; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

--Two or more years of A/V equipment support experience.

--Five years of technical support and systems administration experience.
