Position Overview
Kemin is seeking an Associate Scientist for management of all fermentation-related projects, team staff, and responsibility for successful project execution, product development and launch.
This full-time Associate Scientist is responsible for the all the fermentation research in new product development and continuous improvement of existing products.

Job responsibilities:
Plan, execute and document all research experiments involving fermentation, downstream processing and final product formulation
Lead the fermentation research team of 2-3 research associates
Develop documents in compliance with the Product Innovation Process
Actively participate in identifying research areas that could lead to the development of new products or continuous improvement of existing products
Write various professional documents, for both internal and external use
Adhere to laboratory standard operating procedures, documentation and GMP guidelines
Understanding of Intellectual Property, protecting IP, and freedom to operate issues is desired
Skills Required:
Excellent experimental design, results interpretation and problem solving skills
Detail oriented, highly organized, and motivated by accomplishment
Capability to independently carry out fermentation research, and expertise running, maintaining and trouble-shooting fermentation and down-stream processing equipment
Effective time management
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience in people training and management experience is desired
Ability to simultaneously manage several projects
Ability to present ideas effectively and communicate well with all levels of management within a team environment on a variety of programs and projects
Advanced computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.) and statistical analysis (SAS or comparable program)
Ability to work in a continually changing environment
Proficiency in Mandarin language is desired
Qualifications:
Master with minimum of 3 years of working experience or PhD in bioengineering, microbiology, fermentation technology, food science, or related background.
3 years of hands-on fermentation research required, industry fermentation experience desired
