FUNCTIONThe Information Technology Intern is responsible for providing computer hardware and software support for the College Students. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS ◾Responsible to the responsible administrator and has a support responsibility to all other departments and college personnel as necessary. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ◾Identifies, analyzes and resolves software related problems and issues through the use of troubleshooting tools and techniques as well as teamwork. ◾Provides high level of customer service by providing updates to the customer. ◾Installs, configures and provides user support of personal computers and peripheral equipment to include software installation and upgrades, patches and advanced technical support within specified time frame. ◾Provides hardware and software technical training and professional development for other technicians as needed or assigned.◾Provides support for software applications such as Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, various off the shelf and College developed applications, as needed or assigned.◾Other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES ◾Utilize personal computer and various software packages. ◾Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office technology.◾Ability to analyze and resolve routine technical issues. ◾Ability to communicate effectively.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE◾Enrolled in an Associates Degree program in Computer Science, Microcomputer Applications or related field.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTThe daily responsibilities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, walking and sitting functions. The position also often requires reaching, lifting (up to 10 pounds), balancing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping, and feeling activities. Frequent standing, walking and repetitive motion activities are also required. Most of these functions require light physical exertion and are conducted inside a temperature controlled professional office environment.The duties of the position require considerable close vision work with clear ability to read pertinent printed materials while also being able to adjust to distance and depth perception. Must be able to read print and computer- based materials and to do so with consistent accuracy. Frequent and competent use of computer and related application software programs is required. Intellectual and Emotional EnvironmentThe Information Technology Intern must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure and with a diverse population, including faculty, staff, students and the general public. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires a high level of organizational and time management skills to deal with a variety of situations. It requires the ability to manage a number of projects at one time and with frequent interruptions to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities on a daily basis while being responsive to needs as they arise.
