GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Good vision, hearing and hand-eye coordination are required. Reading, writing, dexterity and some math aptitude are needed. Must be team-oriented, a problem-solver and preferably speak English. Must be physically capable of doing repetitive medium to heavy lifting, carrying and moving. Ability to multi-task is necessary. SUMMARY:The chill room provides support to the various coremaking stations throughout the foundry. Cores are delivered to the molding floor by the foundry support group. The molder is responsible for cleaning and preparing the cores for the mold assembly. The knockout area removes the mold from the casting once poured. SPECIFIC DUTIES:Insure coremaking and molding operations receive adequate and timely supply of production componentsTo follow all safety rules set forth by the managementFork truck operator moving boxes on and off conveyors / roll-oversMix chill sprayCutting sleevesSupply chills for core room/ molding to specified areasi Sort chills and store in proper bins in chill roomMix sandSupply locators, hooks, rebar ,corner pipes, arbors to core roomSpray chillsMix inhibitorsTumble blast chillsi( cleaning)Make hooks, specialty rerod , etc. for molding / core roomPaint chill makings in core boxesSupport pattern shop to work on pattern boxesDeliver patterns and gages to core room / molding / core box warehouseDeliver cores, skids, plates, pallets and test bars to molding floor / core roomMake quality cores within the procedures and guidelines set up by the Engineering departmentThe Coremaker function partners with the Molding department in manufacturing a quality casting within customer specifications Able to retain information when making different boxesAble to read and follow work instructionClean and prepare cores for the moldsAssemble the moldsHave the assembly inspected by a supervisor or a lead person prior the closing the moldWand the parts specific traveler for the moldNotify your supervisor that your mold(s) are ready to pourClean up your work area to keep it tidy and safe for other workers and the pour-off crewA molder must be able to:Stand for six to eight hoursSit for 30 minutesOperate rotary tools for grinding or drilling holes in sand coresMust be a team playerMust be able to work by oneself or in a teamMust attend training sessionsMust be able to wear personal safety equipment such as glasses, face shields, goggles, steel toed shoes and ear protection. Other PPE may be requiredMust adhere to all plant wide and safety rules appliedWheelabrator: Pick up sand molds, remove internal and external sand from castings, and return all hardware to appropriate areasC3: Shake out castings, remove castings from sand mold, and prepare for bake-outSand Blast: Prepare castings for future operations by sandblasting mold sandSand Blast - augers for core room mixersForklift: Retrieve sand molds from molding floor and deliver to knockout area for processing. Take sand hoppers outside, empty dust hopper and classifier barrels, as well as other dutiesBobcat: General bobcat operations i removal of sand, breaking down sand molds, and assist in general clean upTube Clean: Operate hand tools and pneumatic tooling in the assistance of internal sand removal (pipes and tubes)Be responsible for the cleaning of the equipmentMust wear Personal Protective equipment at all timesMust be able to follow work instructions issued by Quality/Engineering These job duties are not all inclusive.
