Job Title: Technician II (Equipment Service)
Location: Coralville, IA
Shift: Early Day ( Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 5:00pm)
The Technician II performs maintenance services on IDT’s laboratory equipment including preventative maintenance, reconditioning of IDT’s laboratory equipment, as well as addressing immediate operational maintenance and/or safety concerns. This position also ensures that equipment, tools, and materials are maintained.
Ensures operation of laboratory equipment by completing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
Follows Standard Operating Procedure and Work Instruction documents while performing maintenance and assembly procedures.
Fills out logs, reports and forms as required to document service procedures and calibration data.
Provides input to design staff regarding new equipment, and constructive feedback regarding existing equipment, to streamline troubleshooting and service requirements and to increase product quality.
Practices safe working habits, follows all IDT safety policies, performs safety checks on equipment and systems. Identifies, corrects and reports potential safety hazards.
Reports issues to management.
Removes defective parts by dismantling devices.
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
Detects source of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
Manages equipment downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance.
Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Attends monthly department meetings.
Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Integrated DNA Technologies Core Values.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s degree in Engineering or Maintenance related program preferred.
- Previous experience in a mechanically related field required.
