The Software Developer I is responsible for developing and maintaining internal software utilized in the process of synthesizing DNA as well as software required for the use with some third-party machines. Duties include definition of requirements; business analysis; development, testing, implementation and support of applications to designed to benefit the organization, its’ customers and other business partners.
The ideal candidate can develop in the .Net C# language; but has an understanding in the following areas: Cloud Data Storage (AWS, Google, Azure), Operations (Web servers and Window Servers), and a willingness to support third-party tools (TeamCenter, DynaTrace, etc).
Provides architecture/design/workflow input to IDT software efforts
Provides functional, easy to use applications using IDT’s internal design standards
Works closely and communicates effectively with the customer to design software that closely fits their needs
Provides documentation and/or descriptions for designs and projects as needed
Keeps development manager informed about the status of projects and any problems or issues related to the projects
Identifies optimal processes and opportunities for the improvement with an aim to improving department operations
Performs and maintains support and maintenance of existing applications, refactoring as needed to match current requirements in the simplest way possible

Position Specific Duties/Essential Functions:
Works with Engineers to provide support in the design and functionality of new processing equipment.
Designs application interfaces to support the communication of synthesis requirements to internally designed or third party machines.
Handles support inquiries and escalates as necessary
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required; B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or other STEM-related fields preferred.
Two years of experience in C# language preferred
Two years of experience in C, C++, and/or other .Net based programming language preferred
Experience with Delphi preferred
Two years of experience with current relational database products required; experience with MS-SQL server preferred.
Position Specific Experience/Skills
Ability to work with third party SDK’s to design communication protocol as required per machine preferred
Cloud (Amazon AWS/Microsoft Azure) and/or experience with other Big Data systems preferred
