Job Title: Senior Director, Production Planning and Strategy

Reports to: Sr. VP of Global Operations

Location: On-Site/Work from Home Hybrid Role

On-Site presence for 25-50% of the time estimated.

Residence within 100 miles of Coralville, IA highly preferred.

Purpose statement:

The Senior Director Production, Planning and Strategy will lead the site materials organization, focused on the execution and continuous improvement of wing-to-wing materials processes. They will partner with the plant managers to develop a customer focused environment that maximizes on-time delivery while minimizing inventory. They will also drive continuous improvement and material flow throughout the plants to collaborate in the site’s lean transformation journey.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of materials personnel in materials planning, inventory, production control and procurement requirements, demonstrating strong integration with manufacturing operations teams and cross functional stakeholders.

  • Define and lead the associated strategy for materials management within IDT.

  • Ensure that standard materials processes and standard KPIs are used to drive lead-time deductions, best in class on time delivery and improved inventory turns.

  • Support the SIOP process: contribute to material procurement timing, order release timing requirements, available capacity & lead-times.

  • Lead capacity requirements planning (CRP) processes by gathering & loading information into planning tools, analyzing data, and providing regular updates.

  • Ensure that the master schedule and production schedules are synchronized using ERP and other tools. Ensure that training and skills necessary to use planning tools are provided and tools are monitored for appropriate use.

  • Report and monitor plant materials related KPIs: inventory balance, inventory turns, on time to promise, on time to need, system health & usage, master data adherence. Also establish the use of key metrics in a metric hierarchy to ensure all materials related activities are meeting expectations.

  • Lead and Monitor all the logistics activities such as incoming receipts, days to stock, inventory accuracy (cycle counts), and shortages.

  • Demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes for an area or business segment. Uses experience and expertise to solve problems.

  • Experience building a production scheduling core.

  • Continuing to manage the material planning core.

  • Provide DBS leadership to operations by expanding IDT’s use of PSI and IMAG.

  • Be the operations lead for global OTD—taking an integrated supply chain approach—revamping how we create customer lead times and manufacturing meeting of those lead times.

  • Taking a medium-term approach of what expansions and equipment are going to be needed at each plant 2-3 years out and what areas of each plant will need to be expanded.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field such as science or operations management from an accredited university required; advanced degree preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of supervisory and continuous improvement experiences in a manufacturing environment, including direct kaizen experience in material flow required.

  • Experience as a DBSLO preferred

Physical Demand Requirements:
