Cambrex Charles City, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor at our manufacturing plant in Charles City, Iowa who shares the values and principles that characterize who we are and how we work. It's time to join our world-class team.

Job DescriptionWorking closely with the Maintenance and Operations departments, the Maintenance Supervisor will direct the day-to-day work activities of the maintenance staff to ensure safe and effective maintenance of plant operations equipment and facilities. Interaction with all areas of the manufacturing plant site is inherent to this position as well as the ability to problem solve and prioritize activities to meet project deadlines.

Job ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Direct supervision of maintenance staff including shift mechanics, welder, pipefitters, tank farm attendant, HVAC technicians and instrumentation techs

  • Work with maintenance employees to motivate and develop an effective proactive team that works together to achieve projects and goals

  • Coordinate and supervise daily maintenance work assignments

  • Ability to manage Emergency work orders and break-ins along with daily schedule

  • Identify plant deficiencies and creation of work orders for corrective action

  • Knowledge in operations and maintenance of site utility systems (boilers, WFI system, compressed air, etc.)

  • Serve as primary contact for various plant facility services including janitorial, lawn care, snow removal, etc.

  • Vacation scheduling, administration, and time card approval

  • Promote safe completion of jobs and a positive safety culture - maintain and uphold the quality standards of a safe work environment

  • Conduct recruitment and selection of maintenance staff

Expected to adhere to DEA, EPA, FDA, and cGMP regulations as they relate to the operation of the company, and to all company safety rules and proceduresExpected to report to work regularly and promptlyOther duties relating to departmental mission not specifically detailed in this section may be assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Operations Management or related field or a minimum high school diploma with commensurate work experience

  • 5 or more years of experience in manufacturing environment with experience in supervising and work in maintenance area preferred

  • Mechanical knowledge of general plant equipment such as pumps, agitators, seals, pressure gauges, etc.

  • Knowledge of cGMP equipment and manufacturing operations beneficial

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Windows based environment including word processing, spreadsheet, and data base programs

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines

  • Good leadership and organizational skills with demonstrated experience in motivated team members
