M.J. ELECTRIC, LLC Field Safety and Health Coordinator in Center Point, Iowa

Position Purpose:This position is responsible for the administration and management of a comprehensive safety management system for transmission, distribution, and substation work. The Field Safety Coordinator will work closely with the Safety and Health Department, Project Managers, Project Superintendents, and craft personnel to promote and ensure safe work practice and conditions.Essential ResponsibilitiesAssistance with new hire general safety orientationCoordination of on-site safety meetings and conducting safety trainingSupporting incident investigation effortsConducting and documenting on-site safety audits and providing safety technical supportRecordkeeping and reportingPromoting proactive and preventive safety activities by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors and correcting unsafe conditionsIntegrating safety into project plans, establishing safety goals, reinforcing safety policies and procedures, monitoring safety metricsSupporting and coaching supervisors and employeesProviding feedback to encourage learning, monitoring safety compliance and creating awarenessSetting priorities that focus on continuous improvementKnowledge | Skills | AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to work with IBEW union craft personnel Strong interpersonal skills are a mustDue to the nature of this position, extensive travel is requiredMinimum QualificationsBachelors Degree Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management preferred, or related field equivalent experience will be considered1-3 years of construction safety experienceWork EnvironmentMust be able to remain standing approximately 50% of the timeOccasional bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, climbingThe person in this position frequently communicates with employees and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situationsOccasionally works in outdoor weather conditionsOccasionally lifting 40 poundsMJE is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees regardless of race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, status as a covered veteran, or other military status.
