Job Description
As a member of the Sanitation Department, provide leadership and technical support in the area of Food Safety and Sanitation with an emphasis on product safety and regulatory (FSMA) compliance. Responsible for the development and implementation of Food Safety systems as a partner to the Operations Business Unit. Possess strong leadership and people skills along with team-building capabilities. This position requires working an Alternate Work Schedule (AWS). The crew you are leading works 7PM -7AM on a 2-week rotating pattern, alternating between 3 evenings and 4 evenings each week, including every other weekend.
The driver of Food Safety/ Sanitation programs, including but not limited to FSMA compliance (including PC documentation), IPM (Integrated Pest Management), Cleaning & Verification, Self- Inspections, Corrective Actions, Maintenance, GMP’s, Hygienic Zoning
Develop, implement, and sustain effective Master Sanitation/ Master Cleaning Schedules within a Business Unit/ Department
Housekeeping
PIC (Periodic Infrastructure Cleaning)
PEC(Periodic Equipment Cleaning)
Routine Sanitation
SSOP’s
Develop, implement, and sustain Sanitation as a Preventive Control including verification activities such as ATP or PCS
Manage hourly employees in cleaning activities, ensuring correct methods, frequencies, precautions are taken
Manage directly or indirectly employees completing routine sanitation activities
Track MSS Completion, and execute corrective actions to gaps
Ensure all cleaning activities are documented
Establish and enforce cleanliness and accountability standards
Serve as a mentor/ resource to other Supervisors as well as the operators within the department, setting expectations and delivering feedback
Provide food safety training, to include food safety and allergen plans, regulatory (FSMA) requirements, GMPs and quality measurement systems. Be capable of delivering training in the area of continuous improvement processes. Deliver training at both the hourly and salaried levels
Develop implementation plans for support on new FSMA initiatives and support on-going FSMA requirements within the Business Unit
Provide daily feedback to plant management as well as team members regarding regulatory compliance, quality/ food safety, safety, and reliability issues
Manage aspects of food safety at the floor level. Conduct periodic self-inspection audits ensuring FDA (FSMA), AIB and FSSC 22000 Standards requirements are met. Drive corrective actions as needed
Must demonstrate the ability to facilitate project work with minimal coaching. This will assure successful project implementation and completions within the parameters set forth
Mentor Food Safety Indirects in the Business Unit/ Department
A departmental owner for Sanitation Corrective Actions (Sanitation Summary) ensuring corrective actions and appropriate follow-ups in place
Qualifications/Requirements
•Bachelor Degree (or equivalent experience)
•Strong foundation in interpersonal communication concepts, specifically, written, oral, presentation, listening, and facilitation skills
•Ability to lead team members, facilitate change, foster innovation and results, and manage
•Ability to effectively challenge the status quo, and provide open and constructive feedback to all levels of the organization- Ability to handle the “tough” conversations
•Ability to communicate with all levels of management and plant personnel
•Working knowledge in principals of SPC, Project Management, Facilitation, Prioritization, Problem Solving skills, statistical methods
•Ability to work an Alternate Work Schedule (AWS), 7PM -7AM on a 2-week rotating pattern, alternating between 3 evenings and 4 evenings each week, including every other weekend.
