Role Overview

This position is for a Software Engineering professional,recognized as a master in the discipline.Engages in a broad range software engineering activities to acquire new knowledge. Drives the design of major components, recommends innovative design or test methods and statistical process control procedures, develops software configuration standards, and ensures customer satisfaction. Trains and provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers, and leads a project or multiple product development teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with software and systems engineers to identify, communicate and capture architecturally significant decisions, requirements and technical risk areas that drive commonality among multiple products for competitive customer offerings

  • Provide expert level guidance on relevant technologies across company and industry practices and standards

  • Solving complex software and systems problems

  • Support and mentor engineering teams as focal subject matter expert contributing to software design and implementation, integration activities, and technical reviews and meetings with internal and external customer

  • Trains, instructs and provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers to help them diagnose and solve problems and build capabilities.

  • Leads multiple project or product teams to ensure that the applicable products meet the customer's specification and relevant requirements.

Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline (STEM degree is highly preferred) and 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Software Engineering professional, recognized as a master in the discipline. Engages in a broad range software engineering activities to acquire new knowledge.

  • Proficient in writing software requirements, software design and implementation, functional and integration testing, writing test cases and test procedures, and software delivery support.

  • Experience with DO-178B/C (DAL A or B preferred)

  • Effective and easily-engaged communicator

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with various teams

  • Ability to identify complex problems, and develop and evaluate options and solutions

  • Energetic and proactive self-starter that builds sound, collaborative relationships

  • Strong contributor to a positive work environment that focuses on solutions

  • C / C++ programming experience

  • Proficiency with modern software development best practices and configuration management tools

  • Develops software configuration standards for company-wide use to ensure current and future business targets are met.

  • Experience managing Common development artifacts to satisfy multiple programs simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with designing architectures

  • Experience with Model based development, ARINC 661, VAPS XT
