Schneider Electric has an outstanding opportunity for a passionate individual to assume the roleofManufacturing & QualityEngineeringManager in our Cedar Rapids, IA Plant.

The Manufacturing & Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for directing and supporting the Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Teams within the manufacturing plant. Main objectives include process improvement and executing on goals/objectives for profitable, sustainable growth. Deliverables include ensuring milestones, budgets, resources, and technical commitments are met in accordance with expectationsofthecustomer and operations management. This role requires a proactive leadership style and the abilities to both lead by example and build collaborative teams, while effectively championing initiatives to drive and support continuous improvementsofthe business and organization.

ResponsibilitiesInclude:

Manufacturing Engineering function:

  • Improves manufacturing efficiency, cost, product quality, and worker safety by analyzing current methods, new methods, new technologies and cost reduction activities in selected areas.

  • Leads the deployment of Schneider Performance System (SPS)in the facility.

  • Develops, designs and plans equipment and machine layouts, workflow, and safety precautions to maximize utilization of plant and manufacturing facilities and mitigate risks.

  • Evaluates worker productivity and recommends improvements to increase manpower efficiency and operating performance, reduce waste and delays, and promote cost control/reductions.

  • Develops metrics to measure plant and equipment capacity output, and identify equipment and process flow bottlenecks. Determines facility specifications, including analysis and evaluationoflocation, materialresources, and structural design. Resolves technical problems and recommends production improvements.

  • Champion the Smart Factory activities

  • The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will have additional responsibilities as assigned.

  • Management of the Plant capital budget and management of portions of base cost budget.

Quality Engineering function

  • Champion the overall deployment of the Quality Management System and integration into facility processes.

  • Formulate Quality policies, operating procedures and the development of plans for monitoring, controlling and improving overall quality of all manufacturing operations.

  • Align strategic focus of Quality team with the needs of the organization and identifies quality improvements to realize business success.

  • Interact regularly with customers to better understand their expectations and concerns.

  • Represent the voice of the customer and drive the customer centricity within the facility and otherwise.

  • Drive the relevant quality tools and methodologies (PFMEA, Control plans, 8D, Six Sigma, SPS, etc.) to ensure continuous improvement.

  • Manage Plant ISO Management Systems

  • Manage ISO Documentation

  • Manage Audit Structure for ISO conformance

  • Assists in the training and coaching of Quality Engineers.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and/or other relevant discipline, a minimum of 6-10 yearsofrelevant experience to include experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment, leading teams and developing individuals, Lean experience and preferably be a certified Six Sigma greenbelt.
