This full time position is located i n Cedar Rapids, IA ; however please expect receiving calls from a 952 number in case you are considered. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Provide various mechanical support in an industrial facility.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Understand and follow precautions required by MSDS.

  • Properly lock out various equipment.

  • Be able to follow steps in a job plan or tech manual, to repair and adjust a variety of equipment.

  • Possess the mechanical aptitude to complete certification as a C3 mechanic.

  • Safely operate drill press, stick and wire welders, saws, grinders etc (typical shop equipment)

  • Properly use basic hand tools.

  • Properly use precision tools (micrometer, torque wrench, pi tape etc)

  • Understand alignment fundamentals, with ability to align pulleys, pumps, gearboxes and drives.

  • Properly document work orders and communicate inspection results.

  • Troubleshoot and repair conveyance, slides, pumps and other process equipment.

  • Properly install bearings, couplings, belts, bushings, valves etc.

  • Operate Mobile equipment-skid steer loaders, fork lift, JLG lifts

  • Understand all Critical Safety Devices and Testing procedures.

  • Understand and follow all Cargill and governmental environmental requirements.

  • Understand and follow all Cargill and plant location safety rules and regulations and Safety Program participation.

  • Understand and adhere to state and federal Occupational Safety and Health rules and regulations as related to plant safety.

  • Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment utilized by facility; determine immediate and long-range needs for maintenance and repair work.

  • Enter work orders into SAP to schedule repairs, utilizing maintenance computer program.

  • Maintain a safe and sanitary atmosphere with a high regard for environmental and feed safety impact of the operation.

  • Complete all Housekeeping assignments, work to improve the condition of assigned department(s), and work as a team member with a positive attitude.

  • Attend various mandatory safety and department meetings.

  • Communicate in a courteous and positive manner to accomplish duties effectively, working as a team with all involved.

  • Assist other crush and plant personnel as needed, and will perform any other duty as requested by management.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.

  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old to work in a production facility.

  • Must be able to read/write English.

  • High School diploma or Equivalent.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to work overtime.

  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, pounding with hammer, and work in confined spaces.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold.

  • Ability to work in elevated areas.

  • Must be able to operate machinery.

Preferred:

  • Able to perform physical job duties including: shoveling.

  • Able to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts.

  • Able to perform maintenance trades including: Machinist, welding pipe fabrication, rigging systems, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps piping system, mechanical maintenance and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  • Previous experience with MRO (Maintenance Repair Ops) and/or MRP (Material Requirement Planning)

  • Prior experience in production related work.
