GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The course materials specialist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the course material adoption process including, but not limited to: organization, research, purchasing, invoicing and returns. In addition, this person will partner with academic departments to ensure the correct materials are ordered.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process and verify each course material request from Verba into the inventory management system.

  • Research all title information and availability with publishers, Books in Print, wholesalers, distributors, etc. via phone, email and websites.

  • Communicate frequently with all academic departments in order to relay and receive pertinent information regarding course materials and enrollment data each semester.

  • Perform order decisions on each title to determine buyback numbers and to get the maximum number of used books from various wholesalers. Establish which items must be "new only" and order accordingly in appropriate timeframe.

  • Initiate the store set-up for each semester by running appropriate reports. This includes linking and organizing all electronic shelf cards.

  • Determine which course materials will be used again and which will get returned to the vendors., Process all returns in a timely manner by using established reports to make informed decisions.

  • Coordinate Day 1 Digital information & availability by entering inclusive access for interested faculty.

  • Processing and procuring materials for Alternative Concurrent programs and other special orders.

  • Research and maintain accurate and competitive pricing.

  • Provide excellent customer service.

  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

  • Possess appropriate computer skills including but not limited to all Office applications.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) reaching, pushing, pulling and

grasping. Frequent {34-66%) standing, walking, lifting, stooping. Constant {67-100%) sitting, viewing a

  • Associates degree and/or 5 years’ experience in a retail or purchasing environment.
