Motorsport Aftermarket Group Application Development Manager in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Primary Purpose of the Position

This position is responsible for meeting the needs of our customers (internal and external) through effective use of technology throughout the life cycle of the solution. The Application Development Manager possesses in depth knowledge of software lifecycles and software practices and how to best apply them for short and long term sustainable systems and teams.

To drive the expected results, this position is required to build and support a cohesive organization of strong individual contributors working together towards a common goal using Agile processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for release management, coordination, and adherence to quality standards for multiple products

  • Lead the Development through estimation, scheduling and providing resource allocation for software development tasks and coordinate with Business Analysts (BAs) / Project Managers and other departments to get projects released on time

  • Develop and implement software development methodologies and processes to improve quality and increase team effectiveness

  • Develop career pathing and growth plans for the software development team

  • Acts as a fully integrated team member by participating in the daily scrums, planning, reviews, and retrospectives

  • Skilled with leading distributed teams of software developers from small groups that are collocated to individuals that are remote as well as nearshore/offshore contractors.

  • Engages with BAs and stakeholders to understand needs, priorities, and to capture requirements that are developed into strategic initiatives

  • Works with BAs to build, maintain, prioritize, and prune the backlog.

  • Communicates project and team status outside the team to BAs and stakeholders according to prioritized business goals and information needs

  • Communicates internally and externally to maintain and improve transparency with stakeholders

  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • BS Computer Science

  • 2+ years in Software and Programming.

  • 5+ years Managing SW Developers, balancing multiple high-impact projects for midsize to large corporations, ideally in retail or eCommerce.

  • Significant understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile/Scrum software methodologies
