Role Overview: The working lead will spend a majority of the time performing manufacturing tasks such a calibration, welding, machining, furnace operators demonstrating a high level of proficiency on multiple programs and/or disciplines of moderate to complex difficulty and is considered a subject matter expert (level III) in primary discipline. Operates as a main point of contact for OJT training and auditing process as well as mentors new and current employees. Collaborates with support staff to achieve On Time Delivery, Inventory, Cost of Poor Quality, efficiency and company goals. The working lead may also support team coordinators by assisting with managing work flow and solving day to day production issues.
Serves as primary training coordinator for main discipline in all areas of the plant including support of aftermarket business as required by the business.
Perform calibration, welding, machining, and/or furnace operations on moderate to complex parts/programs.
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems to improve COPQ, OTD and costs.
Follow up with overall support staff (engineer, buyer/planner, customer service) and drive resolution of production issues.
Monitor daily production and minimize errors in the process, empowered to help troubleshoot issues and provide guidance to operators.
Ensure optimum usage of available resources and technology to achieve goals.
Collaborate with leadership and gains peers support to achieve daily operations and goals
Support and drive continuous improvement deployment using the fundamentals of lean, lean daily management, six sigma, and employee involvement.
Collaborate with training manager and conduct employee training on equipment operations, work, safety, procedures, paperwork, Quality Management System, etc. and provide continuous mentorship of new and current employees, Responsibility for performing process audits of employees to ensure employees are retaining skills, training knowledge and providing information to their leader to build overall team bench strength.
Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position.
Over 40 hours per week as scheduled to meet business needs.
All other duties as assigned including working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business.
- Manufacturing experience required.
8+years of manufacturing experience preferred.
6+ years of primary discipline experience preferred.
Communicates effectively across disciplines and cells and with all levels in order to resolve issues quickly.
Critical thinking- uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Demonstrated skill in executing specific goals and plans to prioritize organize, and accomplish daily goals working at times with little or no supervision.
Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and help others to improve their knowledge of skills, respected by their peers by setting the example for hard work and ethics.
Moderate proficiency of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
General awareness of production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools and processes.
Working knowledge of manufacturing machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance, considered a technical expert in at least one discipline.
Is capable of working on multiple complex programs in primary discipline and capable of working on several moderate programs in primary or additional disciplines.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Certification in core discipline.
Certification on multiple programs labeled as moderate too difficult in degree of complexity.
Ability to obtain FAR 145 repairman license if required by the business.
