Job Summary

The Painter will use paint application techniques and equipment to professionally finish interior and exterior surfaces.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Measures area to be painted; determines quantity and type of paint to use for the project.

• Identifies and orders appropriate paint colors and finishes, mixing if needed.

• Prepares surfaces to be painted, which may include removing prior finishes through chemicals, grit blast, or other methods.

• Masks, removes, covers, or otherwise protects furniture, hardware, trim, and other non-painted surfaces.

• Applies paint to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, sprayers, airbrushes, stencils, and other tools.

• Performs basic stencil and line work, which may include painting lines on factory floors, parking lots, and other surfaces.

• May apply wallpaper, specialty finishes, and glazes.

• Complies with chemical and waste storage and disposal regulations and best practices.

• Builds scaffolding according to safety regulations.

• Conducts minor repair of wood finishes.

• Assists in hanging signage and art work.

• Assists with appropriate maintenance needs.

• Maintains a clean work area.

• Prepares invoices and other paperwork detailing material and labor time and costs.

• Repairs, preps and paints walls and door frames.

• Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.

• Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.

• Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.

• Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.

• Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.

• Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

Supervisor Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

• Completion of a formal apprenticeship program, previous experience, or on-the-job training required.

Position Requirements, Certifications, Licenses, Registration

• Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to follow instructions and provide consistent work.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers, patients, families and employees of the organization. Ability to work well with others and have good communication skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must have adequate balance and ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, and paint for prolonged periods of time. The employee must regularly talk and hear; and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
