       Description: Head Custodian at Carroll High SchoolJob Summary:Keeps the school building and grounds in a condition which will help create and maintain a safe and positive environment in which the educational process can be performedResponsible for general cleaning duties, and supervises other custodians for the cleaning of their designated areas. Schedules the work of other custodians during times there are events or rentals in the buildings. Responsible for the general security of the buildings and grounds. Responsible for following OSHA regulations, Fire Marshal regulations and general fire safety for the building.Follows safe working practices and encourages other staff to follow safe working practices. Has a positive attitude when working with staff, students and visitors. Submits requisitions to maintain necessary inventories for cleaning supplies, maintenance supplies, repair parts, and verifies received inventory. Responsible for equipment and supplies to protect against loss, theft or abuse. Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and simple repairs for the HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and custodial equipment. Coordinate HVAC filter change-out during spring, summer, and winter breaks. Assist contractors with small construction projects or repairs. Responsible to work with custodial staff to keep grounds free from trash. Responsible for snow removal around the buildings and grounds. Comes in at the necessary time to have sidewalks cleared in time for scheduled school hours. Keeps sidewalks free of ice and/or snow during the day, working within the limits set by the weather conditions. Does not use any tobacco/nicotine or vaping products on school property or in school vehicles. Supports the board’s policy to have a tobacco/nicotine and vaping free environment and communicates this to all staff and visitors on school property. Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the Superintendent or the Director of Building and Grounds. Responsible for filling in at other buildings as needed.Qualifications:High school graduation or equivalentIndividual must be motivated.Individual must have organizational skills.HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical knowledge preferred.A work record, which would indicate a desire and ability to perform the tasks of the position. Experience in a leadership position, which demonstrates the ability to lead staff and direct work. Ability to communicate and maintain a good working relationship with all district employees, vendors, contractors, and public entities. Strong knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing systems and the ability to determine when systems are not functioning properly. Ability to use computer equipment to communicate via email, complete reports, generates service orders, maintain inventories, etc. Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment. Ability to work using ladders, scaffolding, mechanical lifts, required for the work in order to prevent injury to self or others. Ability to spend most of the workday standing, lifting, and walking. Ability to properly lift 75 pounds and move heavier materials using the appropriate equipment to prevent personal injury.
