GKN ARMSTRONG WHEELS Associate Operators Needed in ARMSTRONG, Iowa

Role Purpose:Operates and tends fabricating machines such as cut-off saws, shears, rolls, breaks, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and punch, that cut, shape, and bend metal coils, plates, sheet, tubes and structures by performing the following duties.Key Responsibilities:iReads job specifications to determine machine adjustmentsiSets stops or guides to specified sizes by scale, rule, or templateiPositions work piece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or bladeiOperates controls to activate machine and observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctioniMeasures work piece dimensions to determine machine accuracy and that work piece meets desired specificationsiPerforms minor machine maintenance such as, oiling machines, dies or work piecesiAssists in the set-up of machines and stacks, marks or packs finished work piecesiAttends and contributes to team EI meetingsiTrains and assists new operators on set up and operation of machinesiResponsible for 5S of machines and work areaiRegular and predictable attendanceiPerforms other related duties as assignedQualifications, Skills and Experience:iHigh School diploma or GED requirediRobotic experience preferrediApplied knowledge of Controls and InstrumentationiApplied knowledge and ability to read blueprints and assemble parts according to specificationiKnowledge of manufacturing qualityiApplied knowledge of hand tools iApplied knowledge of power toolsiUse of good judgementiWillingness to cross train in other areas of the plant as requirediAbility to read blueprintsiAbility to read precision measurement equipmentiAbility to work and assist with set ups and training on off shiftsiAbility to read and understand written instructionsiAbility to work well with all other departmentsiAbility to work with little supervisionKey internal relationships:Production Team Lead, Value Stream Manager, Production Support, Scheduler Key external relationships:Number of direct reports:0Number of indirect reports:0Leadership Success Profile:Team MemberAdditional Information:Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee in order to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
