OBJECTIVE (broad function, scope and purpose for the position)The Field Service Technician is available for 24/7 on call field service labor, trouble shooting and service training at customer locations for mechanical, electrical, and electronic components such as decanters, high speed separators or heat exchangers to ensure reliable operation, optimum performance and efficiency.This includes performing preventive maintenance, emergency and warranty repairs. Must be able to manage travel costs and operating expenses associated with field service visits.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION (outline job duties and responsibilities):Provides mechanical maintenance on Alfa Laval Separators, Decanters, or Heat exchangersCan startup and shut down equipment in accordance to company and customer safety procedure in line with OSHA requirements.Prepares expense reports and written service reports for work performed on each job no later than two weeks of job completionCreate job time and expense reports, Concur expense reports, and payroll reports as required by all field service technicians.Obtains Signed Time Summary sheets from the customer upon completion of job.ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENTS (level of functional responsibility, relationships, level of direction received, and ability to initiate work):Need to work with the following:Service Operations personnelCapital and Service Sales personnelEngineering and Supply Project Managers and support personnelKEY PERFORMANCE MEASURESCustomer satisfaction measurements responsiveness, quality, customer relationsTimeliness on Job paperwork being completedKEY COMPETENCIES NEEDEDCustomer Service orientationHigh Service Cultural CompetenceGood communication skills and interpersonal skillsEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION DESIRED Education (degree or years) and/or Certification/Registration:Minimum Associates Degree (AS) or two years Military or suitable job experienceType and Length of Experience:Zero to two years experience.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes Desired in Candidate:Competent mechanical skills and aptitudeBasic electrical skillsAbility to communicate Operational and Safety parameters for Alfa Laval equipment to the customerCustomer service and sales orientation orientedExcellent interpersonal skillsStrong verbal and written skillsAbility to troubleshoot and solve technical problemsTeam Playerand ability to work independentlyBasic PC utilization skills required in word, excel.Ability to learn and use systems required for the administration of service and expense reportsPHYSICAL and ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORSPhysical Requirements (lifting, climbing, standing, equipment use):Ability to lift 85 pounds and perform tasks requiring physical strength (climbing, standing, equipment/tool use).Environmental Factors (hazardous materials, work location, work surfaces, exposure):Perform jobs in line with OHSA requirementsComplete established safety training programsExposure to heat, cold, noise, various type of facility, and levels of cleanlinessOTHER REQUIREMENTS (i.e., travel, motor vehicle use, etc.)Requires the ability to drive a company vehicle, and have a valid drivers licenseMust be able to wear a safety respirator, as needed.
