Job Title: Fabricator

Job Description

Our organization is looking for a dedicated and experienced Fabricator. The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding and applying all relevant OSHA, and customer safety policies, procedures, and practices. You will perform complex welding assignments independently, set up and operate welding equipment for all types of assignments, and apply practical shop mathematics for layouts and work planning. Additionally, you will operate oxyacetylene torch and plasma cutter for all types of tasks, layout large, critical, and complex fitting and welding assignments, and perform checks for quality during fabrication. The job also involves operating a variety of powered, hand-held drills, grinders and saws, as well as appropriate non-powered hand tools. You may also be required to drive and operate trucks, forklifts, and boom lifts after receiving training. Active discussion with co-workers and supervisors for understanding and problem-solving is crucial. Cross-training with different aspects of the business/shop will be part of your learning process.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in AMES, Iowa.

Work Environment

Our work environment is unique, situated on a residential land set up with several buildings dedicated to different aspects of the fabrication process. Our small, tight-knit team of under 50 people includes 8-9 fabricators, working under a hands-on manager. The role requires adaptability as tasks throughout the day may vary, from welding to painting, as part of the project requirements. We work mainly in teams of two, so being a team player is essential. Our work is custom and requires a high level of precision and commitment. The shift usually runs from 7AM-4PM with an hour lunch. During hot weather, the shift might start at 6AM with a half-hour lunch to ensure the comfort and safety of our team.
