Required Minimum Qualifications:Four years experience excluding apprenticeship in the applicable craft, trade or plant service supervised; or the equivalent combination of directly related education and experience. • Must possess and maintain a current valid drivers license.

Special Required QualificationsMust have the appropriate EPA approved certification to handle refrigerants, Type II (high pressure), Type III (low pressure) or Universal (low & high pressure)., Possession of a license similar to the National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers (NIULPE) or State of Minnesota Second Class-A Engineer license or ability to become licensed within 6 months.

Preferred Qualifications:High school diploma or GED.Additional years of experience in in an industrial plant, process plant or power plant, operating boilers, chillers, pumps, fans, conveyors or other similar equipment.Experience as a Utility Plant Remote Plant Operator or Utility Plant Operator III or equivalent.

Job Description:

The Department of Facilities Planning and Management at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for a Supervisor-Plant Services. This position will provide first-line supervision to assigned remote plant and operations personnel; ensuring corrective action is taken when needed; and support power plant training program by assigning, monitoring, and conducting operator training.

The duties of this position require: knowledge of all power plant systems and equipment, knowledge of OSHA regulations and the ability to comply with OSHA procedures, and the ability to read and understand blueprints and operating manuals. In addition, this candidate will have the ability to make decisions under emergency conditions, communicate effectively and provide training and instructions.
