Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The position will involve in conducting fundamental studies related to aircraft icing physics and anti-/de-icing technology, wind turbine aerodynamics, and bio-inspired aerodynamics for unmanned-air-vehicle (UAV) applications. The job responsibility will also include assisting the lab director in managing the lab daily operation, supervising graduate and undergraduate students, developing research proposals, and preparing technical reports and papers.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD. Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering with experimental fluid dynamics specialization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong thermal-fluid science background with good publication record in one or more of the following areas: icing physics, multiphase flows; bio-inspired aerodynamics; active/passive flow control.

  • Hands-on experiences of using laser-based flow diagnostic techniques such as LDV, PIV and LIF are highly desirable.

Department/Program & College Description:

The Department of Aerospace Engineering is among the oldest nationally recognized programs, offers an undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering, and graduate programs in aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics. The department has strong research focus in multidisciplinary areas such as internationally recognized non‐destructive evaluation, computational fluid dynamics, wind engineering and experimental aerodynamics, guidance, control, and astrodynamics, mechanics and materials, and turbulence and transition. The department is centrally located in a newly constructed modern engineering research and teaching complex (ETRC). The unique research facilities include an Icing Research Tunnel, a large Aero/ABL Wind Tunnel and a Tornado/Microburst Simulator. The faculty and graduates of the department have been well‐recognized for excellence and the department has a strong alumni base.
