Dairy Records Management Systems (DRMS) located in Kildee Hall at Iowa State University is seeking applications for a Program Coordinator I – Dairy Software Technology and Quality Control Coordinator. This position is a member of a multi-person team that closely collaborates with North Carolina partners, providing subject matter expertise to Dairy users around the United States.
The responsibilities of this position include customer care, systems support, resource management, quality control and project management. Additional duties include software maintenance, and research. This position will provide consultation with co-workers delivering outstanding customer support, performing testing, and designing new systems. The individual selected for the position will work as part of a team by providing guidance and backup support to all department personnel and assisting in an efficient and professional manner. Excellent communication skills are needed in order to interact effectively with dairy producers, DHIA personnel and industry representatives. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality and will handle sensitive information.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and have strong analytical skills to interpret complex information from various sources to be able to decide the best way to move forward on a project. They must also be able to determine how changes may affect the project; possess strong oral and written communication skills as the position requires direct go-between with customers, high level of detail, management and the IT unit and must be able to explain complex issues in a way that all will understand; and be able to be creative and “think outside of the box” to find innovative solutions to a variety of dairy and technology related issues.All staff members are expected to interact collegially and in a professional manner and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethics.
This position may be required to work at night or during the weekends periodically and travel to dairy users around the United States.Example of Duties• Manages a program to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with the objectives of the university.• Plans, monitors, and manages an internal or external project from initiation through completion.• Leads or coordinates project planning, resourcing, and staffing for assigned program.• Monitors and manages budget and ensures that the program meets the overall objectives of the university.• Develops public relations initiatives, workshops, seminars, surveys, or other activities to promote the program and carry out its objectives.• Acts as a representative of the program.• Participates in project management.• May secure external funding as needed.
