Job Title: General Laborer

Job Description

As a General Laborer, you will play a crucial role in our operations. Your primary responsibilities will include loading and unloading trucks, picking orders, and interacting directly with truck drivers and farmers coming in to drop off and pick up products. You'll handle a high volume of walk-in orders and must be ready to jump in right away. You'll also operate a sit-down forklift to pick large orders and hand-pick products. This role involves physical work, including the mixing and bagging of feed, lifting of bags weighing 50-75 lbs, and running bagging machines. In addition, you'll document and report any factors that may influence the quality and safety of finished feed, work with the mixer to stay informed on run status, and maintain a clean and orderly workspace.

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 5 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Altoona, Iowa.

Work Environment

This is a second-shift position, running from 1pm to 11pm, Monday to Thursday. Shifts may change due to workload, and initial training will be on first shift for the first 3-8 weeks (7am-4pm). You may occasionally need to come in an hour early or stay an hour late. The environment is a production facility; it can get hot in the summer and cold in the winter. You must be comfortable working in temperatures ranging from 0 to 95 degrees. The facility can get dusty during bagging operations and has a smell similar to feed (like dog or cat food). You'll be part of a small team of about 10-12 people who all work together and help out when needed. The culture is very blue collar, with a farmer mentality. It's not clean work, but it's rewarding, and many of our team members have been with us for over 10 years.
